The Slammer - Episode
6
First broadcast: Friday 27 October 2006, BBC ONE/CBBC
Channel, 4:55pm
It's Halloween, and every year, the Governor and Peter Nokio, Titch
and Melvin try to scare Mr Burgess. They haven't managed it yet,
so this year they're going to have to put their heads together.
Peter Nokio's got an idea. He suggests to put a big spider in Frank's
hat, and wait for it to crawl down his face! But the Governor tried
that last year, and Mr Burgess just put it in a sandwich and eat
it. Melvin's also got an idea. He says they could get Hairy Claire,
the beardy lady to wake him up! Ted thinks it's a nice idea, but
he already tried it in 2003. Seeing Mr Burgess in the morning, that
was terrifying! Hairy Claire lost all her hair back then, and now
works as a Matt Lucas lookalike. The Governor's nephew Jeremy's
got an idea, but he doesn't know if they're all brave enough to
carry it out. "All we do is put a pink teddybear in his pocket."
The others think it's a ridiculous idea. Melvin's thought of something
else, it sounds promising...
In the meantime, Frank Burgess, who doesn't really like Halloween,
is doing his tour round the prison, telling some lucky inmates to
get ready for the Freedom Show. Today's lucky few include Dr Bunhead,
who's chosen to perform some of his wacky experiments on stage,
the Skeleton Crew, Penrose the magician, and Betty Curse, who's
been locked up for more than five years already.
Melvin's explained his terrifying Halloween plan to the other inmates,
Jeremy and the Governor. Everyone's getting ready for the prank.
They're all going to dress up and act like Zombies, that'll scare
the pants off Mr Burgess!
The clock has been set forward, to make Mr Burgess think it's showtime
already. He makes his way to the stage, but he seems to be the only
one there. The Freedom Show starts, but instead of the acts, some
horrible looking zombies appear on stage. Mr Burgess faintes, at
least that's what everyone thinks...

A bit later, the audience arrives and the real Freedom Show starts.
In the Freedom Show, the audience decides who gets to leave The
Slammer with the help of the Clap-O-Meter. Whoever gets the loudest
applause wins a price money can't buy, freedom. The children loved
the Skeleton Crew's performance, but decided Betty Curse and her
band should leave The Slammer.
