The Slammer - Episode 13
First broadcast: Friday 15 December 2006, BBC ONE/CBBC Channel, 4:55pm

We're joining Melvin Odoom, Peter Nokio and his puppet friend Titch in their cosy cell. Melvin, who's always smuggling things in and out of the Slammer, has finally got his hands on an enormous television! It's a 32-inch plasma flat screen TV with surround sound and built-in DVD player. He smuggled it into the Slammer in the secret compartment in his granny's pants! Peter Nokio asks how they're going to plug it in, as there is nothing he can plug it in in the cell, something which Melvin hadn't thought of yet.

Meanwhile, the Governor is rehearsing for the day's Freedom Show. Not everything goes according to plan though. Mr Burgess and the Governor's nephew, Jeremy Gimbert, can't control the sound desk. Just as the Governor discovers they've actually got a smoke machine in the Slammer, there's a power cut. Frank Burgess goes in search of the culprit.

"All this was caused by a dodgy prisoner who was plugging in his dodgy TV into the mains!" Mr Burgess concludes after a short investigation. Melvin is disappointed. "We need the TV to help pass the time away. You don't know what it's like being couped up in one of the cells all day long, with nothing to do." Mr Burgess is surprised. "Nothing to do, nothing to do, lad. All you do is sit around on your se so-and-sos all day, I'd quite happily swap with you!" This gives the Governor an idea, letting Melvin swap with Mr Burgess for the day. "It's exactly the sort of hilarious initiative that makes the Slammer such a special place to be!" Melvin, Pete and Titch get to be officers for the day, so that means Mr Burgess and Jeremy Gimbert get locked up in a cell!

Being a prison warden isn't quite what Peter and Melvin expected it to be. All of the other prisoners are against them, as they've taken up the baton now. "We're the enemy now, aren't we." Even Mr Choosy doesn't want to speak to them any more. On top of that, they accidentally let some prisoners espace, including Claude the lion tamer, who was supposed to perform on the Freedom Show.

Mr Burgess and Jeremy are relaxing in their cell when the Governor comes in. "Gimbert, Mr Burgess, get up! Claude Bottom, the lion tamer, has escaped! He was our headline act, what about the show!" Jeremy says the Governor's going to have to find another prisoner to replace him. "I have already found another act, you!" the Governor tells them. "It could be the start of a brand new double act! Better get rehearsing lads!"

Melvin, Pete and Titch are still patrolling the prison. They've been told not to let any more prisoners escape. They couldn't do anything but watch when two more inmates jumped over the wall in the excercise yard. The Governor's very angry with them, and tells them to stop being prison wardens right away!

Jeremy and Mr Burgess are practising their act, when the Governor enters their cell, along with Melvin, Pete and Titch. "I knew this whole role-swapping idea was ridiculous! And I want you two back at work straight away!" Now they can't perform on the Freedom Show, and the Governor's already found a replacement act!

It's showtime in the Slammer, the only prison in the world where a parole board of children decides who gets to leave. The audience loved the all-singing Magnets, but decided the mysterious Twins should leave the Slammer.
